Why does the Wi-Fi hub only support 2.4 GHz and not 5 GHz?

Updated over a month ago

The FYTA Hub deliberately uses the 2.4 GHz band because it offers the most reliable conditions for IoT devices such as our hub:

  • Better range: 2.4 GHz penetrates walls and ceilings more effectively than 5 GHz, which is particularly important in flats and houses.

  • Stability: Many smart home devices rely on 2.4 GHz because it is less sensitive to obstacles.

  • Compatibility: Almost all routers support 2.4 GHz, even older models.

  • Energy efficiency: Devices in the 2.4 GHz band generally consume less energy, which is ideal for permanent connections.

This ensures that the hub remains stably connected to the Wi-Fi even over longer distances.
