To rule out a malfunction, proceed as follows:
Remove the sensor from the pot.
Start Live Mode and read the soil moisture value. This should be 0.
Take a metal object and hold it against both legs at the same time to short-circuit them.
Meanwhile, start Live Mode again and read the value. This should now be at least 70.
