If your Beam G1 has been sitting unused for a while and can't be set up in the app, the cause may be an outdated firmware version. From a certain version onwards, the FYTA app recognises the sensor automatically and installs the update on its own. Older versions need a one-time manual update.
For the manual update you need two things: the app nRF Connect (free on the App Store / Google Play) and the firmware file in ZIP format. You'll find both attached to this article.
Here's how to do it:
Download nRF Connect and open the app. Tap the filter button and enter "FYTA BEAM" or "PSB-810" in the name field. Your sensor should appear in the list. Tap "Connect".
Switch to the "Client" tab (at the top, starts with "Cli...").
Find the entry "Buttonless DFU Without Bonds" and tap the icon with the two arrows. Then tap the upward arrow (Write).
Enter the value 01 and tap "Write". The sensor briefly disconnects and the LED turns blue.
Go back to the scanner and type "Dfu" in the filter. A device called "DfuTarg" will appear in the list. Tap "Connect".
Switch to the "DFU" tab.
Tap "Open Document Picker" and select the ZIP file from the attachment.
Tap "Start". The update runs automatically.
Once "Your DFU update was completed successfully!" appears, the sensor is ready. Pair it in the FYTA app as usual.
