The EC value measures the salt content in the substrate – and therefore indirectly the nutrient content. For this measurement to be reliable, the soil moisture must be within a specific range. If the substrate is too dry or too wet, the sensor cannot determine a meaningful EC value – in this case, the value is shown as greyed out in the app.
Important: This measurement range is not the same as your plant's optimal moisture range. These are two independent ranges – one describes when your plant is well supplied with water, the other describes when the soil moisture provides the right conditions for a reliable EC measurement.
If the moisture level is not within the optimal range for an EC measurement, the EC measurement is paused.
As soon as the soil moisture is back within the suitable measurement range, the EC value will automatically be displayed again.
